Network IS slower than DVD but it is usuable.

This was my reason to install Free Mcboot in the first place: Not wearing down the laser anymore and no disks lying around. Personally I prefer network/SMB on the slim PS2. Using DVD-backups patched with ESR patcher works considerably better. Many games do not work at all, or cutscenes don‘t play or the games crash. Buying the adapter, possibly an IDE-SATA bridge and a hard disk is pretty expensive for an old console – in my opinion. It makes me want to smash the console with a sledgehammer. Now I know again, why I hated this method of installing Free Mcboot. I took out my PS2 and tried some drives with AR-Max – this gave mixed results. Suggestion: Try some different drives, preferably old ones – and make sure you use FAT16 or FAT32 filesystem and MBR partition table.
So… I have only one idea: Action Replay seems to be picky.
